Zimoun Sound Sculptures.

Zimoun focuses on creating installations and sound sculptures, usually in connection with mechanical features, movement and physically generated sounds. His creations are graceful, mechanically harmonized works of poetic playfulness - simple yet complex, the result of repetitions with slight irregularities caused by routine and coincidence.

Zimoun uses simple components. Through mutual interference and interaction these generate complex sound structures and movements. He often works with a great number of identical mechanical industrial elements, which he then manipulates and prepares for his creations. His interest lies in the artistic research of resonance, space, movement, simplicity, materials and generative systems. The result is an artificially generated yet seemingly organic behavior of these installations and sound sculptures.

Miike Snow - Animal

Here is a sample from their latest album called Digi.

Having, until now, remaining completely anonymous - with their only visual representation being the mysterious jackalope silhouette - Miike Snow are a band that produce infectious and intelligent pop, and consist of Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg & Andrew Wyatt. Under the name "Bloodshy & Avant", Karlsson & Winnberg have written and produced hits for the likes of Britney Spears (which culminated in a Grammy for "Toxic"), Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Jennifer Lopez & Jordin Sparks.

Dan Mangan - Robots.

Inspired by early 80s gang movies, Robots tells the story of two rival gangs who engage in their own back-alley version of robot wars, pitting one robot against the other in a battle to the finish! Great vocals, with a gritty take.

Moleskine.

No idea why I didn't upload this earlier, but this is one of the most used items that I carry around, usually as a planner. Its uses are endless, and its durability is legendary (backed by an unconditional lifetime warranty) it includes an expandable folder and features the classic black oilcloth-bound cover, durable thread-bound binding, and a handy elastic closure. And well, if they were good enough for Hemingway and van Gogh, then they're surely good enough for us pedestrians.

Moleskine® notebook is the heir and successor to the legendary notebook used by artists and thinkers over the past two centuries: among them Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin. A simple black rectangle with rounded corners, an elastic page-holder, and an internal expandable pocket: a nameless object with a spare perfection all its own, produced for over a century by a small French bookbinder that supplied the stationery shops of Paris, where the artistic and literary avant-gardes of the world browsed and bought them. A trusted and handy travel companion, the notebook held invaluable sketches, notes, stories, and ideas that would one day become famous paintings or the pages of beloved books.

Today, Moleskine brand is synonymous with culture, travel, memory, imagination, and personal identity--in both the real world and the virtual world. It is a brand that identifies a family of notebooks, journals, diaries, and innovative city guides, adapted to various functions. With the diverse array of page formats, Moleskine notebooks are partners for the creative and imaginative professions of our time. They represent, around the world, a symbol of contemporary nomadism, in close connection with the digital world, through a network of websites, blogs, online groups, and virtual archives. With Moleskine, the age-old gesture of taking notes and doing sketches --typically analogue activities-- have found an unexpected forum on the web and in its communities.

Boxee is the first “social” media center, based on the xbox media center open source project (xmbc). Boxee plays media from your computer and other devices in your home network, as well as connect you to various Internet sources that allow you to stream or download movies, tv shows, music and photos, eg Revision 3. You can sign up and download Boxee for free here.

After downloading Boxee, you may choose to install it on a laptop or build a dedicated machine that will act as a media center. A complete guide to installing Boxee on any OS can be found here. The dev team have also made it easy for anyone to install Boxee on a hacked Apple TV.

Installing Boxee on AppleTV

In order to install Boxee on the AppleTV you need to do the following:

  8. Power on your Apple TV and the patchstick will run the ATV bootloader

Typekit.

Last week my inbox popped with an invitation to the preview of Typekit, a technology platform that hosts both free and commercial fonts in a way that is incredibly fast, smoothes out differences in how browsers handle type, and offers the level of protection that type designers need without resorting to annoying and ineffective DRM. After setting up an account and looking around, I realized that I would not be able to use it until I set up another blog platform, or until Posterous enabled JavaScript.

Anyways, recently there have been a few blogs that have been giving away invites to Typekit in the form of a contest. Here is where I come in. I have 5 invites. If you want one please just leave a comment with your email (I will delete your comment once ive sent an invite). Or @reply me.  (no contests, first come first serve.)

*edit* all gone.

Tweetie 2.

Should I give in and purchase yet another iPhone twitter client?

I have seen many reviews praising Tweetie 2 of being the greatest iPhone Twitter client available, but that's what they said about the previous Tweetie, Tweetdeck and TwitterFon (ecofon). All of which were hailed as the best iPhone Twitter clients on the market, each with its own unique features

It's the most polished Twitter app yet, oozing slickness with every swipe. – Gizmodo (Tweetie 2)

Tweetie 2 is stupendulous! translate and email tweets is a nice touch. Add to address book?! awesome. - @mbreitweiser

It is because of these remarkably exaggerated reviews that I question whether Tweetie 2 is really that great of an application. It also makes me wonder why these new features werent included as an upgrade let alone included at all. Nevertheless, if this keeps up I will probably have to purchase this app and see what all the fuss is about.

And how is this app "oozing slickness with every swipe"? And why would you need to translate a tweet and then email it?

*EDIT* ~ Loren Brichter a.k.a "atebits" Responds.

I can put you on the list for promo codes when the next build comes out (Apple lets me generate 50 per version).

Let me know if that's ok - thanks!
Loren

Brizzly: What Twitter Should Have Looked Liked.

Essentially. Brizzly looks alot like the regular twitter web interface that we have all grown to love. But there are some key features that are not included in the regular interface such as retweeting, adding groups, and basic media viewing capabilities. It's basically what you would expect from tweetdeck if it were a web client.

Some of the big features are that Brizzly allows you to create groups out of the users you follow, gives you insights into why certain topics are trending, and threads direct message conversations. It also gives you multiple account access, allows you to save multiple drafts of tweets, and keeps track of where you left off reading in your stream. And it should handle media (pictures and video) in a more seamless way that Twitter itself currently does.

Currently Brizzly is only open to beta users who have invites. I can only offer 10 for now so grab one while you can here.
