Tweetie 2.

Should I give in and purchase yet another iPhone twitter client?

I have seen many reviews praising Tweetie 2 of being the greatest iPhone Twitter client available, but that's what they said about the previous Tweetie, Tweetdeck and TwitterFon (ecofon). All of which were hailed as the best iPhone Twitter clients on the market, each with its own unique features

It's the most polished Twitter app yet, oozing slickness with every swipe. – Gizmodo (Tweetie 2)

Tweetie 2 is stupendulous! translate and email tweets is a nice touch. Add to address book?! awesome. - @mbreitweiser

It is because of these remarkably exaggerated reviews that I question whether Tweetie 2 is really that great of an application. It also makes me wonder why these new features werent included as an upgrade let alone included at all. Nevertheless, if this keeps up I will probably have to purchase this app and see what all the fuss is about.

And how is this app "oozing slickness with every swipe"? And why would you need to translate a tweet and then email it?

*EDIT* ~ Loren Brichter a.k.a "atebits" Responds.

I can put you on the list for promo codes when the next build comes out (Apple lets me generate 50 per version).

Let me know if that's ok - thanks!
Loren

Brizzly: What Twitter Should Have Looked Liked.

Essentially. Brizzly looks alot like the regular twitter web interface that we have all grown to love. But there are some key features that are not included in the regular interface such as retweeting, adding groups, and basic media viewing capabilities. It's basically what you would expect from tweetdeck if it were a web client.

Some of the big features are that Brizzly allows you to create groups out of the users you follow, gives you insights into why certain topics are trending, and threads direct message conversations. It also gives you multiple account access, allows you to save multiple drafts of tweets, and keeps track of where you left off reading in your stream. And it should handle media (pictures and video) in a more seamless way that Twitter itself currently does.

Currently Brizzly is only open to beta users who have invites. I can only offer 10 for now so grab one while you can here.

New Twitter Homepage.

Twitter has just rolled out the new version of its homepage that new potential users and users who are not logged in will see. The design has been completely overhauled from the previous version which was fairly cluttered (see it at the bottom of the page). This new version is sleek and features trending topics by the minute, hour and day.

Most importantly, the new version features search functionality front and center. This way people who aren’t even Twitter users yet can search for things being said on the service. And results are nicely placed on the same page below the main area.

Feature | Yiying Lu.

Yiying Lu is the artist behind the Fail Whale. Yiying was not paid directly for the image - she originally posted the image to iStockPhoto.com where the Twitter people picked it up.

Born in Shanghai, China on Dec 2nd. Yiying moved to Sydney in 2002 to study Design, with love of platypuses and wombats. In 2006, she went on an exchange study in London at Central St Martins College of Art and Design. While there, I studied advertising, illustration and Little Britain. In 2007, she graduated from the University of Technology Sydney with First-Class honors in Bachelor of Design Visual Communication.

What is Fail Whale? - It is employed during periods of downtime by the social networking service Twitter.com, which allows users to submit and share brief messages known colloquially as "tweets." When Twitter gets overloaded, users see the "Fail Whale" error message.

I ♥ Free Stuff

So recently I decided to enter this contest on Twitter. Marcus Troy (@marcustroy) was giving away a pair of brand new shoes for free to the person who would refer the most amount of twitter followers to his twitter account. So, I decided to enter this contest and posted a tweet "follow @marcustroy....". After a few weeks I was amazed at the fact that I had actually won this contest and was about to recieve a designer Nike 90's Air shoe, free. Naturally I had doubts about this contest, about who would actually give away $200 shoes as a prize and to someone that they met on a social networking website such as twitter.

Well, today i recieved a package from Marcus, with a brand new pair of Nike 90's Premium shoes and a t-shirt from Alphanumeric. Just goes to show that there are legitimate people out there on twitter who hold contests which you can win!

Twitter is currently down for unscheduled maintenance.

It's my first time seeing this. Some kind of error, or is twitter really doing maintenance. I know that alot of users have been having problems with their avatars, backgrounds update counts and such. Lets check back in one hour.
